Neillsville Booster Youth Basketball Tourney Held

The Neillsville Booster Club held their annual boy's youth basketball tournament on Sunday with 23 teams competing in 5th - 8th grade divisions.

First place in the 5th grade division was Marshfield, finishing 3-0. Second place went to Marathon while Gilman edged out Colby for the bronze medals. Neillsville, coached by Doug Zank finished 7th - team members included; Nick Derfus, Luke Mayer, Monte Diestler, Ethan Kranz, Logan McQuade, Trevor Zurakowski, Joey Anason and Issac Weiers.

In the 6th grade division, Black River Falls reigned supreme with a perfect 4-0 record with Wi Rapids Assumption taking 2nd. Neillsville finished the day 2-2 for third place. Members of the squad coached by Jerry Pfieffer and Dave Matson included; Logan Matson, Nolan Watton, Noah Henchen, Mason Coblentz, Tyler Pfeiffer, Kavan Naughton and Dylan Humboldt.

The 7th grade division found Cadott taking home gold medals by defeating Granton in overtime. Neillsville finished 3rd. The team, coached by Denny Miller and Jamie Kuhn, included; Logan Brody, Paul Miller, Dominick Cappadora, Adam Schmidt, David Harder, Austin Zipfel, Dylan Hensiak, and Nick Kuhn.

The 8th grade division had some stiff competition as Black River Falls and Neillsville both finished with 2-1 records while Altoona and Pittsville finished 1 -2. Neillsville was coached by Mark Dux, Cain Trunkel and Bill Tomlin. Team members included; Josh Tomlin, Jason Kurth, Jake Kunze, Jahene McGee, Mike Dux, Terrell Zurakowski, Nick May, Payton Bymers and Tristen Heidemann.

The Booster Club would like to thank the many volunteers who helped officiate, scorekeep, take tickets or work the concession stand. All proceeds are used to support youth sports at Neillsville Schools.
