Neillsville Boys Hang On For 10th Win

The Neillsville boys basketball team hung on for a 59-55 win over Altoona on Friday night.

The Warriors led 31-26 at the half and led by as many as 14 in the second half before Altoona got back into it with good pressure defense, forcing turnovers.  With Neillsville up 2 with 4 seconds left, Altoona missed 2 free throws and the Warrior's Mason Roenz was fouled after getting a rebound.  He calmly sank two bonus free throws with 1.6 seconds left to secure the win.

Neillsville's Braden Trunkel led all scorers with 20 points, Roenz and Teagen Dillenbeck added 9 points each.  For Altoona, Brayden Turk and Evan Peterson each scored 14 points.

Neillsville improved to 10-5 on the season while Altoona dropped to 11-5.
