GREENWOOD/GRANTON IN DIVISION 7 CHAMPIONSHIP!
Sunday, November 13th, 2011 -- 8:48 AM
The Greenwood/Granton Indians are in the Division 7 State Championship Football Game after a 34-26 win over Clayton on Saturday. G-2 used a huge day by Senior Hayden Hinker to advance to the State Championship for the first time since 1996. Hinker had 176 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns to go along with an 85 yard kickoff return after Clayton had tied the score at 14. Hayden's third touchdown run and a Josh Harlander 10 yard fumble return put G-2 up by 20 but Clayton wasn't done. Two socres in the 4th quarter brought the Bears to within 8 but a late interception by Kole Hinker enabled Greenwood/Granton to run out the clock and get the win. Clayton ended up with 6 turnovers in the game. Greenwood/Granton (12-1) will now face Seneca (11-2) in the Division 7 State Championship on Thursday morning at 10 am.
