GREENWOOD/GRANTON ADVANCES TO LEVEL 4

Greenwood/Granton is moving on to Level 4 or the state semi-finals in the WIAA football playoffs after a 48-12 Level 3 win over Cochrane-Fountain-City on Saturday in Division 7. The Indians got the scoring started first after a blocked punt, G-2 got on the scoreboard with a 21 yard TD run by quarterback Josh Harlander. With the score 6-0, Harlander connected with Cyrus Nigon on a 32 yd scoring strike to make it 14-0 Greenwood/Granton. CFC was able to put together a drive late in the first quarter and they scored on an 11 yd run by quarterback Cale Lisowski to make the score 14-6. Then after a successful on-side kick, the Pirates scored again early in the second quarter on a Lisowski to Parker Lyga 10 yard pass play. The two point conversion failed and it was 14-12 Greenwood/Granton. CFC would never score again. Harlander had a 26 yard run for a TD and a Harlander to Cole Hinker 31 yd pass play made it 28-12 at the half. Greenwood/Granton came out in the second half and played hard-nose football limiting CFC to zero points and a number of hard hits. Meanwhile the G-2 Nation scored 21 second half points on a 12 yd Hayden Hinker run, a 4 yd Weston Wuethrich run and finally a 50 yard scamper by Cyrus Nigon to make the final score 48-12. Greenwood/Granton (11-1) moves on to play unbeated Clayton (12-0) in a Level 4 matchup Nov. 11th or 12th.Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
