WEEK TWO HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WRAPUP

Week 2 of the high school football season brought some very interesting match ups in the area..

We start in the Cloverbelt Conference where Neillsville fell behind to Fall Creek early
after giving up two scores early in the 1st quarter but were able to take the lead just after halftime only to have Fall Creek come back late in the 4th with a pair of scores to win the game. The final was Fall Creek over Neillsville 25 to 19. Other Cloverbelt scores included Eau Claire Regis blanking Cadott 41 to 0, Stanley-Boyd getting by Altoona 20 to 7, and Osseo-Fairchild downing Spencer/Columbus 9 to 7.

After two weeks of play:
Osseo-Fairchild and Eau Claire Regis are on top of the Cloverbelt with 2 and 0 records followed by Colby a half game back at 1 and 0. Stanley-Boyd, Fall Creek and Cadott are at 1 and 1. Neillsville, Altoona and Spencer Columbus are still searching for conference wins.

In the Marawood Edgar continued to roll as they defeated Rib Lake Prentice 55 to 7.
Stratford handled Pittsville 35 to 8, Chequamegon downed Tomahawk 27 to 19, and
Marathon defeated Auburndale 39 to 20.

After two weeks of play in the Marawood:
Stratford and Marathon sits at the top of the conference at 2 and 0. Edgar is a half game back at 1 and 0 Pittsville, Rib Lake Prentice, and Chequamegon are at 1 and 1
Phillips is at 0 and 1 in the conference. Tomahawk and Auburndale are at 0 and 2.

The Cloverbelt Marawood Crossover Game had Colby handily over Phillips 49 to 8.
In the Cloverwood, Loyal and Thorp got themselves into quite a battle. Loyal took a 12 to 3 lead to the locker room only to see it vanish in the second half. The Greyhound missed an extra point conversion so the two teams went into overtime tied at 18. Both teams added scores in the 1st overtime. No one scored in the second overtime. Finally in the third overtime Thorp was able to come away with the victory 34 to 26. Other Cloverwood games had Greenwood/Granton over Chippewa Falls McDonnell 24 to 18, Wisconsin Rapids Assumption downed Gilman 28 to 7, Wausau Newman blanking Abbotsford 35 to 0, and Athens defeated Owen-Withee 59 to 14.

After two weeks of play in the Cloverwood:
Wausau Newman, Athens and Greenwood/Granton and Thorp are on top at 2 and 0.
Loyal and Wisconsin Rapids Assumption are at 1 and 1 Owen-Withee, Chippewa Falls McDonnell, Abbotsford and Gilman are all at 0 and 2.

In the Valley Football Association Marshfield got by Wausau West 42 to 14, DC Everest downed Stevens Point 42 to 20, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln picked up the victory over Wausau East 25 to 9.
