The Neillsville Recreation Department will be offering a girls fastpitch softball "hitting clinic" July 27th and 28th. Rachel Rosie Weyer, a 2007 graduate of Loyal High School and a four year starter at the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse will be the lead instructor. Weyer has also played for and garnered a vast amount of softball hitting knowledge from the semi-pro "Danes" , elite softball program. She also has received multiple all-conference accolades in the Wisconsin State University Conference. Rachel is especially proficient with "slap hitting". The clinic will be held on Wednesday, July 27th and Thursday, July 28th with a 8:00-10:00 session at the Neillsville High School and a 12:00-2:00 session at Marshfield Columbus High School. Individuals will need to bring a glove, bat, batting gloves (if you have them), water bottle, sunscreen and your hard working attitude.
The cost is $25/player for 5th grade or older, for an extra $5 campers can get a poster of the "hitting mechanics" and a Red Rosie the Riveter Bandana". The actual schedule for the day will include: 1) warm-up 2) step by step of swing mechanics, 3) competitive games, 4) home run derby off a tee 5) words of wisdom from Rosie.
