YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL AWARDS GIVEN

The Neillsville Recreation Department held their annual "Awards Picnic" for youth summer baseball and softball on Monday in the Neillsville Middle School. Over 150 boys and girls received certificates for their participation. First place winners were awarded individual trophies and a "Most Improved Player" and "Major Leaguer Award" (based on excellence in attitude and leadership) were given out as well.

The "Minor League" crowned the Cardinals champs with a 4-2-2 record. Members of the squad coached by Danny Opelt and Dominique Glassbrenner were: Derringer Goodman, Zack Smith, Marshall Opelt, Kyle Gurney, Andrew Bixby, Dylan Walker, Seth Naedler, Steve Edelson, David Harder and Nick Kuhn.

The "Little League" honored the Cubs who were coached by Travis & Karen King and Pat Kranz as champions. Members of the squad included: Erik Friemoth, Luke Mayer, Tanner Elmhorst, Jeremy Tessman, Hunter Roenz, Tanner Zschernitz, Nick King, Tristen Abbott, Lane Kranz and Hunter Hand.

The Junior Slowpitch Softball League crowned the Falcons champs with a sparkling 10-2 record. Members of the team who were coached by Diane Diestler, Carrie Schmidt and Patti Naedler included: Molly Klein, Melissa Roberts, Morgan Bethea, Kaitlyn Gutenberger, Brianna & Brittanee Roehl, Trisha Naedler, Ashlee Diestler and Corrtney Schmidt.

Winners of the "Most Improved Player" in the various leagues were: Charity Hribar, Ashlee Diestler, Emily Voigt, McKenzie Friemoth, Jacob Long, Jeremy Tessman, Darrin Loberg, Nolan Watton, Andrew Bixby, and Logan Marshall. Winners of the prestigious "Major Leaguer Award" were: Caden Ehlers, Cole Hediger, Malory Zickert, Brittanee Roehl, Alyssa Katcher, Christopher Biebert, Skylar Barth, Steven Edelson, Luke Mayer and Alex Bixby.


The Girls Fastpitch Softball teams were cited for their accomplishments as well. The 10U, 12U, 14U and Varsity groups were all recognized as were their coaches: Robin & Cassie Harder, Dessa Karl, Jamie Rogers, Jerry Pfieffer, Ashley Edginton, Tinker Johnson, Paul Klein, Bob & Caitlin Pavlac, Matt Diestler and Scott Krultz. They have competed in tournaments in Adams-Friendship, Pepin and Neillsville as well as playing in league competition in Marshfield and Greenwood.
