SPRING SPORTS SEASON HAMPERED BY WEATHER

Monday, April 4th, 2011 -- 12:41 PM

The spring baseball and softball seasons are going to get a little later start this year in our area due to snow cover and wet conditions. The Neillsville baseball team was to have had a game with Osseo-Fairchild last Friday and a game with Greenwood today and one with Pittsville tomorrow that will not be played. Coach Dave Matson said the snow at Henry Lukes Baseball Field is almost all gone but it is still very wet and with a chance of rain almost every day this week, getting out for the game vs. Colby next Tuesday may be a long shot. Coach Matson said his team has been able to get out on the parking lot and take some fly balls and do some long throws but other than that all the practicing is indoors. The Neillsville softball team also had a game scheduled today in Greenwood and they have a tournament scheduled in Neillsville for this Saturday. The golf team has also started practice with their first match slated for April 18th at Hillcrest. Thanks to the Fieldhouse, the Neillsville track teams have been able to get in a few indoor meets including one on Tuesday at the Fieldhouse with Cadott and Thorp participating.
