UW STEVENS POINT BASEBALL PICKED TO WIN WIAC

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is the preseason favorite to secure the 2011 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) baseball championship according to the league?s sports information directors.
The Pointers received four first-place votes in the conference poll and have captured eight first-place trophies in program history. UW-Stevens Point is coming off a 2010 campaign that had them reach the finals of the NCAA Division III Championship for the third time in the last five years. The Pointers are ranked No. 2 nationally in a preseason poll conducted by D3baseball.com and will field a starting lineup that includes a junior or senior at every position.
Also in the Pointer line-up is Cain Trunkel of Neillsville. The freshman right hander will be a member of the Pointer pitching staff.
