NEILLSVILLE GIRLS WIN CLOVERBELT CHAMPIONSHIP

The Neillsville girls basketball team won the Cloverbelt Conference Championship on Saturday downing Eau Claire Regis 47-44. Neillsville (22-0) got out to a 10-8 lead after 1 quarter and then led by 4 at the half. The Warriors continued to control tempo of the game and took a 31-24 lead into the final quarter. Regis (21-1) battled back in the 4th quarter and stayed close throughout the quarter, but Neillsville continued to hit freethrows down the stretch and the Ramblers could not get closer than 2 points and Neillsville hung on for the 47-44 win. Neillsville was led by freshman Jenny Lindner with 19 points, MacKenzie Trunkel added 9 and Sami Pfieffer had 8 points including 6 for 6 from the line. Heather Bowe led Regis with 12. Both teams have byes in the first round of the Girls State Tournament which starts Tuesday.Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
