MATTHEWS NAMED SPORTING NEWS' DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Packers LB Clay Matthews has been named "Sporting News'" NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Matthews collected 188 votes from 609 NFL players, coaches and executives. Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu was second in the voting. Matthews finished 4th in the NFL with 13.5 sacks and also returned an interception for a touchdown this past season. Rookie of the Year: Ndamukong Suh, DT Detroit
Coach of the Year: Mike Smith, Atlanta
Coordinator of the Year: Mike Mularkey, Atlanta
