FALL CREEK BOYS WIN CLOVERBELT CHAMPIONSHIP

The Fall Creek boys basketball team is the 2010 Cloverbelt Conference Champions after beating Marshfield Columbus on Saturday night 68-35. The Crickets dominated from the beginning outscoring the Dons 19-7 in the first quarter and 38-20 at the intermission. Fall Creek went on to double up Columbus 30-15 in the second half to win the championship. In the second place game, Neillsville got out to a 40-29 halftime lead over Eau Claire Regis thanks in part to 17 points from Sterling Backaus. Regis came back in the second half and cut the lead to 7 going into the final quarter and then winning on a last second shot 68-66. The Warriors were led by Tyler Ehlen with 20 points, Backaus with 17 and Cain Trunkel with 13. Neillsville finishes the regular season 16-6 and will open up tournament play on Tuesday night when they host Stanley-Boyd at the Fieldhouse at 7pm.
