NEILLSVILLE HOLDS OFF OWEN-WITHEE TO WIN OPENER

The Neillsville boys basketball team held off a second half charge by Owen-Withee to win their season opener 47-37 last night. Neillsville (1-0) lead by 27-15 at halftime but Owen-Withee (0-2) came out of the locker room and outscored the Warriors 15-5 in the 3rd quarter to cut the lead to just 2 at 32-30 heading into the final frame. Neillsville was able to get back on track offensively to score 15 in the 4th quarter and pull away for the win. Neillsville was led by Cain Trunkel with 20 points, 15 in the first half. Tyler Ehlen added 9, Mitchell Erickson 7. For the Blackhawks, they were led by Ryan Kitzhaber with 19 and Steven Esker with 6. More scores can be found below at the Regional Sports Scores link.
