UW EAU CLAIRE WRESTLING BEGINS SEASON AT LAKELAND DUALS

The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team opened up the 2009-10 season Saturday by competing in the Lakeland Duals. The Blugolds competed in five dual meets against the host school Lakeland College (Wis.), Trine University (Ind.), Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.), Milwaukee School of Engineering and Wabash College (Ind.). In the first dual match against Lakeland, the Blugolds were defeated 37-9. In the second match, Eau Claire fell to Trine 44-6. The Blugolds were beaten by Concordia-Moorhead 42-0 in the third match, then fell to Wabash 46-3 and finished the day losing a close match, 28-18 to MSOE. Against Lakeland, the Blugolds had two winners including Keith Dawson, a sophomore from Neillsville at 174, who defeated Chris Collins by a score of 7-4. Dawson also picked up a 5-1 win vs. Adam Chauklin of MSOE. The Blugolds will be back in action on November 21 when the team travels to Minneapolis for the Augsburg Open.
