Alma Center Lincoln Football Player Dies Following Injury In Game

Alma Center Lincoln senior, Adam Massman, died after getting hurt in the team’s first football game of the season last Thursday.

On Saturday, Drew Semingson, the superintendent for the Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan School District, sent a message to district staff and families sharing the news of Massman's death.  He said, after Massman got hurt, he received medical support from EMTs who were at the game. He was then taken to the hospital. Semingson said the district learned of his death Saturday afternoon. 

The district opened the high school building Saturday for students and families, and counselors were available to meet with students. Semingson said additional counseling support will be available starting at noon today and throughout the day on Tuesday. 

The team is scheduled to play Cornell on Friday. Neither the school nor the WIAA has said if that game will still be played.
