Marc McDowell of Black River Falls, a five-time PBA Champion, received the Eagle on Wednesday night, which is a trophy for winning the Regular Singles Championship at the 121st United States Bowling Congress Open in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Over 58,000 bowlers competed over several months of the tournament which kicked off on March 1.  Marc bowled his three games back in May where he rolled games of 299, 196 and 300 to finish with a 795 series.  He had to wait until the end of July when everyone was done to find out if his score would hold up, and it did.

At age 63, McDowell is the oldest to win USBC Singles title.  The 300 game was the 55th of his career.  Marc has won many awards and tournaments over the years and winning the Eagle as the Singles champion ranks up there near the top.  He won the Firestone Tournament of Champions in 1992 where he beat the best in the world which he ranks as the pinnacle of his career, but this one is equally as nice.  By the way, Marc bowls on the Wednesday night league at Strike Time Lanes where many of his fellow bowlers were on hand Wednesday night to celebrate with him.

Also on hand was Doug Sleaford, USBC President for the State of Wisconsin.  Doug said it’s a proud moment for the state.  Being that it's a pinnacle of bowling his name will go up everytime he bowls at Nationals representing Wisconsin with the Eagle.

Glen Luchterhand is the president of the Local Bowling Association and he said it's exciting to have a bowler win the National championship from this area and it is not something you may ever see again and he says they will enjoy while they can.

It’s been quite a bowling season so far at Strike Time.  A little over 10 weeks into the season - there have been ten 300 games and two 800 series.  In fact one of those, an 846, thrown by Cody Montgomery is the new Strike Time Lanes record.  At one point earlier this season, Cody had three 300 games in three weeks.
