Johnson Named Athlete Of The Month

Neillsville golfer Tucker Johnson was recently voted as the Schierl Tire and Auto Service High School Athlete of the Month for June.   The award is co-sponsored by MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports. 

Johnson received 616 of the nearly 2,200 votes cast during voting from June 30-July 6 at MarshfieldAreaSports.com.

Other nominees for the June award were: Marshfield track athlete Ethan Knecht, Pacelli softball player Peyton Mancl, Marathon track athlete Chris Marcell, Colby track athlete Daelyn Rieck, Athens track athlete Kyle Schreiner, Edgar track athlete Tucker Streit and Assumption track athlete Bella Thomas.

Johnson won the Division 3 individual title at the WIAA State Boys Golf Championships in June at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison. Johnson shot back-to-back 4-over par 76s, overcoming a four-shot deficit on the second day, to win the D-3 title by two strokes. 

A male and female Athlete of the Year will be announced on July 16.
