Marshfield YMCA Swim Team Member Set For National Championship

Tuesday, April 1st, 2025 -- 10:35 AM

Marshfield YMCA Tigersharks Swim Team member, Ireland Moran, will be representing the Marshfield Clinic Health System YMCA at the upcoming YMCA National Short Course Swimming Championships. The meet will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC, March 31 –
April 4, 2025. The 16 year-old will be competing in the 100 meter backstroke event, having qualified at the 2025 YMCA Sectional Championships in Weston, WI with a time of 59.45.

Ireland is a junior at Marshfield High School, and won the 50-yard freestyle championship for the Tiger girls swim team at the Wisconsin Valley Conference meet as a sophomore in 2023.  In that same meet, Ireland also finished second in both the 200-relay and the 200-medley relay, and third in the backstroke.

YMCA Tigersharks Swim Team Head Coach Kaeley Dunteman-Stiefvater states, “I haven’t worked with Ireland for very long, but since day one, I’ve been impressed by her work ethic, leadership, and drive.  I’m thankful to have been a part of her journey.” Moran commented, “It’s been a long time coming, and I’m thankful for the support from my coaches, teammates, doctors, and parents. I wouldn’t be here without them.” The entire YMCA family looks forward to celebrating her achievements, as she has been a member of the Marshfield Area YMCA since 2018, and also serves on the aquatic staff as a lifeguard and swim instructor.
