Neillsville 5th Grade Boys Are State Champs

The Neillsville 5th grade boys basketball team are 2025 Wisconsin State Basketball Tournament Champions in the Boys Small Division. 

The boys competed in the 2025 Wisconsin State Invitational Championship Tournament this past weekend in La Crosse. 

There were 16 teams divided into 4 pools.  Neillsville was 3-0 in the Green Pool where they beat St. Mary Catholic 46-40, Luther 63-21 and Durand-Arkansaw 49-24.  In the quarterfinals they downed Columbus Catholic 38-15, then they beat Melrose-Mindoro 55-40 in the semi-final.  In the State Tournament Championship, the Warriors beat Fall Creek 38-30. 

Members of the championship team include: Garrett Ehlen, Lucas Luchterhand, Hayden Poeschel, Rylen Hart, Jaiveon Luckett, Tripp Laufenberg, Corbin Wirkuty, Gordan Gaier, Jarus Backaus, and Blake Knudsen.  The team was coached by Mike Gaier, Adam Luchterhand and Nate Ehlen.
