Varsho Avoids Abritration
Friday, January 10th, 2025 -- 12:36 PM
The Toronto Blue Jays are avoiding salary arbitration with outfielder Daulton Varsho of Marshfield by signing Daulton to a one-year contract for 2025 worth $8,200,000.
Daulton earned the American League Gold Glove Award in centerfield this season, with his fine defensive play, which included five outfield assists and 28 defensive runs saved.
Since the start of the 2022 season, Daulton has compiled 72 defensive runs saved, and no other major league player, regardless of position, has compiled more than 60. At the plate in 2024, Daulton hit .214, with 18 home runs and 58 rbis.
He suffered a rotator cuff injury in September and underwent surgery, and Daulton may miss the start of the 2025 regular season.
