Neillsville Booster Club Girls’ Basketball Tourney Results

The Neillsville Booster Club held their annual “Youth Girls’ Basketball Tournament” on Sunday, February 18th with 22 area teams participating. 33 games were contested throughout the day with the following champions noted.
In the 4th grade division, Neillsville brought home second place with their only loss of the day being to a tough Bloomer squad. Members of the team, coached by Nate Ehlen and Jason Bennett, included: Addy Brown, Bella Ehlen, Olive Bennett, Grace Hagmann, Kennedy Kren, Everly, Harper Ruzic, Sophie Heck, Abigail Luchterhand, Emma Spencer, and Paetyn Zank.
In the 5th grade division, first place was captured by Neillsville with Auburndale finishing in second place. Members of the Neillsville team, coached by Nick & Ashley Klimpke, were: Jayce Rohde, Alle Erickson, Elise Swita, Brielle Erickson, Kenzie Klimpke, Emerson Schoengarth, Tyra Wuethrich, Harper Opelt, and Emerson.
The 6th grade division championship game was a tough one for the Neillsville girls, as they came up short against Altoona. Neillsville ended up taking home second place. The team coached by John Gaier included: Lexi Bergemann, Claire Trojan, Macy Knudsen, Adrien Waltemate, Olivia Roman, Angelica Roman, Hadley Hare, Jakayla Riggins, Kallie Pumper, Alexis Opelt, and Kallie Laubenstein.
In the 7th grade bracket, four teams competed for the championship with the Bloomer Blackhawks taking down the Cadott Hornets for the gold medals. Neillsville wrapped up their day with a third-place finish. Members of the Neillsville team, who are coached by Kevin Langreck and Nick Cappadora, included: Maddie Newbury, Tori Cappadora, Eden Marg, Aubree Lewis, Gwen Borzillo, Keena Jahn, and Ella Erickson.
In the 8th grade portion of the tourney, the Neillsville girls took home the championship, with Stratford finishing in second. The local girls, coached by Kevin Dittner, included: Marie Hagmann, Maddie Shaw, Brailey Opelt, Katie Rose, Addisyn Kranz, Nevaeh Stenulson, and Riley Hemp.
The tournament, sponsored by the Neillsville Booster Club, was conducted with a tremendous amount of volunteer help and all proceeds are used to support youth sports at Neillsville schools.
