Longtime Loyal Wrestling And Softball Coach Has Passed Away

Longtime Loyal High School teacher and coach Darrell Laschen passed away Saturday at the age of 86. 

Laschen was a Milwaukee native, who received his teaching degree from UW-LaCrosse, and then taught in Peshtigo and Middleton.

He joined the staff at Loyal High School in 1967, and was named the head wrestling coach.  Laschen led Loyal to numerous conference, regional and sectional championships, and had coached several state champions at Loyal.  He also started the Loyal softball program, and led the Greyhounds to state championships in 1978, 1979 and 1980. 

He is a member of both the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame, and the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Hall of Fame.

Funeral services for Darrell Laschen will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal on Friday, at 12:00 PM, with burial in the Loyal Cemetary on Saturday, October 28.   (A complete obituary can be found on the Obituaries Tab at the top of this page)
