NGL's Dux And Hoffmann To Wrestle For State Championships/Area Results From Day 2 At Madison

The 80th Annual WIAA Individual Wrestling Tournament and the second Girls Individual Wrestling Tournament are being held in conjunction thru Saturday at the Kohl Center in Madison.   There will be champions crowned in 14 weight classes in three divisions for boys and 12 weight classes in one division for girls.

Division 2

Neillsville/Greenw./Loyal’s Luke Dux (126) and Gunner Hoffmann (285) won their sem-final matches on Friday and will wrestle for State Championships on Saturday evening.

• Semifinal - Luke Dux (Neillsville/Greenw./Loyal) 35-0 won by decision over Blakelee Bastien (Luxemburg-Casco) 42-11 (Dec 7-3)
• Semifinal - Gunner Hoffmann (Neillsville/Greenw./Loyal) 28-1 won by fall over Isaac Bunker (Monroe) 44-5 (Fall 2:55)

Division 3

Derek Godard (Auburndale) won his Cons. Round 1 match over Colin Cournoyer (Stratford) while Colton Weiler (138) and Sloan Welch (220) won their semi-final matches.  

Blake Underwood of Marathon lost his semi-final match at 106

Trenton Cournoyer (Stratford) at 120 lost his quarterfinal and his Cons. Round 1 matches and Ryan Becker (Stratford) at 145 lost his quarterfinal and then won his Cons. Round 1 match.   Carter Lueck (170) lost his semi-final and Jackson Ormond (182) lost his quarterfinal and then won his Cons. Round 1 match.

Brayden Sonnentag of Cadott (132) won his semi-final, Tristan Drier (152) lost his quarterfinal and then won his Cons. Round 1 match, Cole Pfeiffer (160) lost his semi-final match, Dawson Webster (182) lost his semi-final,  and Levi Lindsay (195) lost his quarterfinal and then won his Cons. Round 1 match

Nathan Zarins (Thorp/Owen-Withee) lost his quarterfinal match but then won his Cons. Round 1 match.

Division 1

Marshfield - 106 - Jon Sternweis lost his semi-final match as did Brett Franklin at 138.  Caleb Dennee at 152, and Garrett Willuweit at 160 won their semi-final matches.   Hoyt Blaskowski lost his quarterfinal at 145 won both his Consolation matches. Owen Griesbach at 170 won his Cons. Round 1 match but then lost his Cons. Round 2 match.  

Girls

Iszybelle Sonnentag (100) of Cadott won her semi-final match

Ava Gardner of Marshfield lost her semi-final

Breanna Wier (152) (Osseo-Fair./Aug./Fall Cr.) won her semi-final

Cera Philson (Thorp/Owen-Withee) won her Cons. Round 1 match before losing her Cons. Round 2 match

Division 3 Championships at 5:30 p.m. on mat 4

FINALS ON BALLY SPORTS WISCONSIN:  The championship final matches of all three divisions will be aired live on Bally Sports Wisconsin.
