WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament Results From Day 1

The 80th Annual WIAA Individual Wrestling Tournament and the second Girls Individual Wrestling Tournament are being held in conjunction thru Saturday at the Kohl Center in Madison.   There will be champions crowned in 14 weight classes in three divisions for boys and 12 weight classes in one division for girls.

  

Division 2

At 145, Hudzon Sebesta-Opelt (Neillsville/Greenw./Loyal) lost 4-3 in his preliminary match to Griffin Marko of St. Croix Falls

At 113, Tristen Smazal of Abbotsford/Colby lost his preliminary match

Deaglan O`Connell (Regis/Altoona) won his preliminary match at 113 as did Chase Kostka at 138 and Caden Weber at 195.  Tommy Tomesh at 152 and Brayden Albee at 182 lost their preliminary matches.

Breckin Burzynski (Stanley-Boyd) won his preliminary match at 132

 

Division 3

Derek Godard (Auburndale) at 106 won his preliminary match.  Zade Grassel (120) and Adam Dorshorst (195) of Auburndale both lost their preliminary matches

Alex Tegels (220) of Cadott lost his preliminary match

Dylan Dodson of Marathon (132) won his preliminary match while Hector Pintor lost his match at 160

Colin Cournoyer (Stratford) won his preliminary match at 106 as did Trenton Cournoyer at 120 and Ryan Becker at 145.  Kaleb Krummel lost his preliminary match at 152

Nathan Zarins (Thorp/Owen-Withee) won his preliminary match at 285

 

Division 1

Marshfield - 106 - Jon Sternweis won his quarterfinal match as did Brett Franklin at 138, Caleb Dennee at 152, and Garrett Willuweit at 160.   Hoyt Blaskowski lost his quarterfinal at 145 as did Owen Griesbach at 170.  James Clements at 220 and Adrian Kruger at 285 lost their preliminary matches

 

Girls

Iszybelle Sonnentag of Cadott won her quarterfinal match

Ava Gardner of Marshfield won her quarterfinal match

Breanna Wier (Osseo-Fair./Aug./Fall Cr.) won her quarterfinal match

Cera Philson (Thorp/Owen-Withee) lost her quarterfinal match
