UW-Stevens Point Women's Wrestling Team Wins Regional/Bethea Among 11 Headed to Nationals

The UW-Stevens Point women's wrestling team won the NCWWC Region III Championship with the Pointers winning five of the brackets. Eleven total Pointers punched their tickets to national by virtue of a top-four finish in their respective brackets including Neillsville alum, Morgan Bethea who placed third with a win by decision and a tech fall victory in the third-place match.
Alexis Winecke (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo) won all four of her matches to take the 109 bracket. She won by fall in her first match and then earned three-straight tech falls. Shaina Hyre (Lawrenceville, Ill./Lawrenceville) took second in the bracket with two wins to reach the finals.
Abby Nelson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) went 3-0 to win the 123 bracket. She picked up wins by tech fall, injury default and in the finals by fall.
Rose Ann Marshall (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) needed just two wins to place first in the 116 bracket. She won by tech fall in the semifinals. Then in the final, she held off a late attack for an 8-6 decision victory.
Tabitha Breitrick (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville) took first in the 170 bracket. She had two wins by fall to reach the finals. Then claimed the bracket title with a tech fall victory.
Amor Tuttle (North St. Paul, Minn./Stillwater Area Senior) won the 130 bracket with wins by tech fall and fall.
Kelly Enriquez (Waukesha, Wis./South) finished second in the 101 bracket. She earned a win by fall to reach the finals.
Jade Herzer (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells) placed third in the 155 bracket. She won twice by tech fall and earned a 5-3 decision win in the third-place match. Brindelyn Eternika finished third in the 191 bracket with a tech fall victory in the third-place match.
Anna Strand (Appleton, Wis./Xavier) claimed fourth in the 143 bracket. She won three times on the day, all by fall.
Angelica Torres Lima (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine East) won the fifth-place match in the 116 bracket by a 5-0 decision. Taylor Schulz (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) won the seventh-place match in the 170 bracket by fall.
The 11 Pointers will travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the NCWWC Championships beginning at 11:00 a.m. on March 3.
