Cloverbelt Girls Basketball Crossover Playoffs/1st And 2nd Place Results

The 1st and 2nd place Cloverbelt Crossover Playoffs for girls basketball were held on Saturday at Neillsville.  

In the 2nd place playoff, it was a slow start for both Cadott and Columbus Catholic but Cadott was able to get an early lead and went on to a 48-34 win.  Lauryn Goettl had the hot hand for the Hornets, scoring 12 points in each half to finish with a game high 24 points.  Jenna Kibbel led the Dons with 10 points.  Cadott improves to 19-5 on the season while Columbus Catholic falls to 14-10.

In the 1st place playoff game, it was a see-saw affair in the first half with Neillsville going into the locker room with a 26-23 lead over McDonell Central.  In the second half, McDonell was held scoreless for the first 10 minutes and Neillsville got out a double digit lead, thanks to the free throw shooting of Delaney Rochester to win 46-34.  At one point in the second half Neillsville had scored 16 points and 13 of those came from Rochester at the line.  Delaney would finish 13 of 14 from the charity stripe and a game high 15 points to lead the Warriors.  Paris Opelt had 11 points for Neillsville.  Aubrey Dorn led the Macks with 10 points.   Neillsville improves to 24-0 while McDonell Central falls to 19-5.
