Daina Shilts To Compete In X Games

Winter X Games XXVII is an upcoming winter sports event taking place this Friday thru Sunday in Aspen, Colorado. This is the 22nd consecutive Winter X Games held in Aspen. The events will be broadcast on ESPN and participating athletes will be competing in eight skiing events and eight snowboarding events. 

Neillsville’s own Daina Shilts will be back at the Winter X Games to defend her gold medal in Unified Snowboarding Slalom.  Daina also won gold in that event in 2020 along with medals in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. 

The Special Olympics Unified Skiing and Snowboarding events will take place on Friday.  Teams will be composed of one professional action sports athlete and one Special Olympics action sports athlete for a total of six, two-person teams.   Each of the team members will take one run on each of two competition courses, with the professional athletes racing against one another and Special Olympics athletes racing one another. The combined best times of each team determine the results.
