Cross Country Sectional Results

Here is a look at the area sectional results. The top 2 teams and the top 5 individuals not on those teams qualify for the State Championship Meet  next week in Wisconsin Rapids.

Division 3 - Osseo-Fairchild Sectional (Area teams participating: Alma Center Lincoln, Blair-Taylor, Melrose/Mindoro, Osseo-Fairchild)

Boys - Bangor was the team champion and La Crosse Aquinas was 2nd. Kristoffer Sandal of Blair-Taylor finished 7th and qualified for state as an individual. Jack Laufenberg of Melrose-Mindoro was 10th, Kyle Burmesch of Osseo-Fairchild was 37th, William Vargas of Alma Center Lincoln was 72nd.

Girls - Cochrane/Fountain City was the team champion and Kickapoo/LaFarge was 2nd. Claire Becker of Melrose-Mindoro finished 6th and qualified for state as an individual. Ruby Paul of Alma Center was 46th, Emmalee Johnson of Blair-Taylor was 65th and Alyssa Burmesch of Osseo-Fairchild was 76th.

Division 3 - Athens Sectional (Area teams participating: Athens, Stratford, Edgar, Colby Girls, Marathon)

Boys - Athens was the team champion and Gillet finished 2nd. Area Individual state qualifiers include Cree DeFoe of Stratford who finished 9th and Jaron Gage of Marathon who finished 10th. Connor Sheahan of Athens was 2nd, Cade Koch of Edgar was 22nd. 

Girls - Bonduel was the team champion and Colby finished 2nd. Morgan Shanelle of Edgar finished 8th and qualified for the state as an individual. Willow Oehmichen of Colby was 2nd, Breleigh Skaya of Stratford was 9th, Shilo Blake for Marathon was 14th, Brianna Sheahan of Athens was 18th.

Division 3 - Cadott Sectional (Area teams participating: Augusta, Cadott, Fall Creek, Loyal/Greenwood, Chippewa Falls McDonell, Owen-Withee, Eau Claire Regis, Stanley-Boyd, Thorp/Gilman Boys, Thorp Girls)

Boys - Chippewa Falls McDonell was the team champion and Glenwood City finished 2nd. Area individual state qualifiers include Peter Weir of Cadott who finished 3rd and Connor Genteman of Loyal/Greenwood who finished 4th. Paul Pfeifer of Chippewa Falls McDonell finished 2nd, Zachary Haas of Stanley-Boyd finished 8th, Tyler Kleinhans of Fall Creek finished 14th, Angelo Brantner of Eau Claire Regis finished 15th, Mason Gay of Owen-Withee finished 16th, Luke Schraufnagel of Thorp/Gilman finished 23rd, and Justin Frank of Augusta finished 32nd.

Girls - Eau Claire Regis was the team champion and Colfax finished 2nd. Area individual state qualifiers include Shaylie Zarza of Thorp who finished 3rd, Megan Johnston of Fall Creek finished 8th, and Jenna Anders of Fall Creek finished 10th. Carly Borst of Eau Claire Regis finished 4th, Janelle Schesel of Stanley-Boyd finished 11th, Ava Peterson of Augusta finished 12th, Iszy Sonnentag of Cadott finished 15th, Summer Smith of Loyal/Greenwood finished 16th, Christie Abbe of Chippewa Falls McDonell finished 36th, and Kendall Weiler of Owen-Withee finished 54th.

Division 3 - Stevens Point Pacelli Sectional (Area teams participating: Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, Auburndale, Marshfield Columbus, Pittsville, Spencer)

Boys - Stevens Point Pacelli was the team champion and Pardeeville finished 2nd. Area individual state qualifers include Isaac Scheer of Marshfied Columbus who finished 3rd and Derek Grossman of Pittsville who finished 8th. Mason White Eagle of Auburndale finished 15th, Blake Lobner of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption finished 19th, and Malachai Anderson of Spencer finished 78th.

Girls - Wisconsin Rapids Assumption was the team champion and Laconia finished 2nd. Lucy Dolan of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption was the sectional champion and will advance to the state meet. Hope Schulte of Auburndale finished 29th, Rachel Nieman of Spencer finished 51st, Kennedy Parkison of Pittsville finished 55th, and Jenny Schneider of Marshfield Columbus finished 76th. 

Division 2 - Black River Falls Sectional (Area teams participating: Black River Falls, Colby/Abbotsford boys, Medford, Mosinee, Neillsville/Granton)

Boys - Mauston was the team champion and West Salem was 2nd. Area individual state qualifiers include Tanner Hraby of Medford who finished 4th and Max Adams of Colby/Abbotsford finished 6th. Brad Wensel of Black River Falls finished 27th, Will Drinka of Neillsville/Granton finished 40th, and Jack Hohenstein of Mosinee finished 56th.

Girls - Medford was the team champion and West Salem was 2nd. Britt Fitzgerald of Mosinee was the sectional champion and advanced to the state meet. Meredith Richter of Medford was 2nd, Lily Miller of Black River Falls finished 49th and Faustina Thomas of Neillsville/Granton was 82nd.

Teagn Michalak, daughter of Neillsville alum, Nikki (Craig) Michalak took 5th place. This will be back to back that the senior has qualified for state.

Division 1 - Stevens Point Sectional (Area teams participating: Marshfield and Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln)

Boys - SPASH was the team champion and Neenah was 2nd. Colin Wellnitz of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln finished 12th and qualified for the state meet. Bode Erickson from Stevens Point was the sectional champion and Thomas Cashmer of Marshfield finished 22nd.

Girls - Neenah was the team champion and Appleton North was 2nd. Area individual state qualifiers include Natalie Scharenbroch of Marshfield who finished 2nd and Sarah Hopp of Stevens Point who finished 4th. Kate Schaeffer of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln finished 12th.
