Update on Area Wrestlers Competing at the 2022 US Marine Corp 16U & Junior Nationals

The 2022 U.S. Marine Corps Junior and 16U Nationals Freestyle and Greco-Roman tournaments began July 15 and continue through the 22nd at the Fargo Dome in Fargo, North Dakota.

Several area wrestlers are competing as part of Team Wisconsin. 

The results are as follows:

Junior Freestyle (July 17 - 19):

132 - Brayden Sonnentag - Cadott

  • won his 1st match by points (10 - 0) over Bryce Kegley of Oklahoma
  • lost his 2nd match by points to Omar Ayoub of Ohio
  • won his 1st consolation match (12-0) over Kaleb Cox of Georgia
  • lost his 2nd consolation match (Consolation round 64 #2) to Aaron Lucio of Michigan (7 - 2)

145 - Brett Franklin - Marshfield

  • lost his 1st match by points to Anthony Bahl of Indiana.
  • lost in consolation to Branden Palcko of New Jersey

145 - Gavin Drexler - Stratford

  • won his 1st match by fall over Anthony Marlet of Illinois
  • won his 2nd match by decision over Jackson Polo of New York
