Monday, December 7th, 2020 -- 10:02 PM
Neillsville senior Braden Trunkel scored his 1,000th career point on a steal and a lay-up early in Neillsville's 64-20 over Loyal on Monday night in Loyal. Trunkel became the 9th player in school history to surpass the mark. Braden's brother Kane also went over 1,000 points from 2006-2010, scoring 1,152 in his career.
On Monday, Loyal jumped out to a 5-0 lead but it was all Neillsville after that, thanks to a stifling defense. After the 5-0 lead for Loyal, Neillsville outscored the Hounds 32-5 to lead 32-10 at the half.
It was much of the same in the second half as Neillsville outscored the Hounds by the same 32-10.
Neillsville's Andrew Brown led all scorers with 24 points, Trunkel had 15 and Alex Roman added 10. Kaiden Hagen led Loyal with 9 points.
Neillsville (1-0) will be at Spencer on Dec. 15th while Loyal (1-1) will host Greenwood on Thursday.
