Columbus Catholic And Regis Heading To State Baseball Tournament

The Marshfield Columbus Catholic baseball team will be heading to its first-ever WIAA State Tournament after a pair of wins at the Division 4 sectional tournament Tuesday at Gillett High School.   The Dons (20-3) pounded Lena 11-2 in the semifinal and came back with a 5-0 shutout of Rib Lake to earn a spot at next week’s WIAA State Baseball Tournament at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton.

Another Cloverbelt Conference also punched their ticket to State as the Regis Ramblers won the Shell Lake Sectional on Tuesday.  In the semi-final, Regis beat Independence/Gilmanton 7-5 and then in the Sectional Final they edged Solon Springs/Northwood 13-10.  This will be the 4th trip to State for Regis.

Bangor and Oakfield will join Columbus Catholic and Regis in the Division 4 field at State with the Semi-Finals next Wednesday morning.  Teams will be seeded this evening.
