Area Wrestlers Competing In World Team Trials This Weekend

Former Marshfield Tiger wrestling champion Sam Mitchell will compete this weekend in the 2022 World Team Trials for freestyle wrestling. 

Sam is competing in the 97-kilogram weight class, and has the number-four seed in this weekend's competition. 

Sam won the WIAA Division I state wrestling championship for Marshfield at 195 in 2019, and had a four-year record of 149-33 at Marshfield.  He then enrolled at the University of Buffalo, where he competes at 197.  Sam was 14-16 for Buffalo this season, giving him a two-year varsity record of 17-20. 

The team trials are set for this weekend at Coralville, Iowa. 

Meanwhile, the women's freestyle team trials are also scheduled for this weekend, and Stratford native Macey Kilty has the second
seed in the 62-kilogram division.
