A high school athletic director is proposing to delay spring sports to utilize the nicer weather.

Mike Daniels, athletic director for Slinger High School, told the WIAA last month during one of their annual meetings, he was fed up with his athletes competing in volatile Wisconsin conditions.

WISN-TV in Milwaukee reports that Daniels said they've had to cancel many games and plenty of their players have competed in below-freezing temperatures.  Last year, COVID-19 pushed fall sports back to spring, and spring sports closer to summer.   Daniels wants to make that the permanent schedule moving forward.

The WIAA told WISN-TV this issue has come up in discussions before, but this will be the first time they have a previous season to use as an example.

A spokesperson said they'd be open to discussing the option this fall.
