UW-La Crosse Wins 6th Straight WIAC Wrestling Championship

University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the WIAC Wrestling Championship on Saturday. 

The conference title is the sixth straight for the Eagles and 21st in program history.   UW-Eau Claire was 2nd, UW-Platteville placed third, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 89, UW-Whitewater fifth with 85.50 and UW-Stevens Point sixth with 69. UW-Eau Claire’s runner-up finish is the best is program archives.

UW-La Crosse claimed three individual titles en route to the title including Nolan Hertel, a junior from Marshfield, who won the 157-pound title crown for the second straight year.   UW-Stevens Point’s Matt Berlin was selected the John Peterson Wrestler of the Meet for the second straight season after winning the 133-pound title.   It was Berlin’s third consecutive championship at 133 pounds. He is the first three-time winner of the weight class in WIAC history.
