Neillsville's Daina Shilts To Participate In X Games Aspen 2022

X Games Aspen 2022 is hosting a Special Olympics Unified Snowboarding dual slalom competition again in 2022.

Special Olympics Wisconsin athlete and Neillsville native Daina Shilts will return to Buttermilk Ski Resort in Aspen, Colo., as a Special Olympics athlete participating alongside celebrities and professional snowboarders.

Each team consists of one Special Olympics athlete and one X Games athlete participating in the dual giant slalom unified race.

Daina, a four-time X Games medalist, returns to Buttermilk to defend her 2020 gold in the Unified Snowboarding Slalom. She will once again partner with Mike Schultz, a three-sport X Games athlete with the most adaptive gold medals in X Games history. Daina and Mike won the 2020 competition with a blistering time of 35.76 seconds in 2020.  The Special Olympics Unified Snowboarding and Skiing Livestream will be Friday from 3:30 to 5 pm.
