Midland University's men's basketball program earned their 12th win of the season on Wednesday night. The Warriors bested Mayville State 82-65 in their opening game of the Bellevue Classic, marking head coach Oliver Drake's 200th collegiate victory.

Drake, a Neillsville High School graduate, is in his 12th season overall and 7th at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska.  He has an overall record of 200-149 with 92 of those victories earned during his time leading the Warriors.  Drake was introduced as the new head men’s basketball coach at Midland University in 2015, after coaching five seasons at Ashford University (Iowa).

Coach Drake’s teams are known for their defense, rebounding, and valuing the basketball. In his 11 years of coaching, his team has been ranked in the top 20 in total rebound defensive nine seasons. Three times they have led the nation in the category. They are also among the leaders annually in field goal defense, scoring margin, and assist/turnover ratio.

He is an active member of several coaching organizations having served on the NAIA Championship Committee, NAIA All-America Selection Committee, Basketball Divisions Task Force, and the NABC-NAIA National Committee since 2014, where he has served as president.

Oliver and his wife, Kristen, live in Fremont, Nebraska with their two children; Sebastian and Stella.
