Neillsville Girls Take Sole Possession Of First Place

The Neillsville girls basketball team got out to an early big lead and held off the Loyal Greyhounds 48-33 on Friday night to take over sole possession of first place in the Eastern Cloverbelt.Neillsville jumped out to a 21-4 lead before Loyal rallied late in the first half to trail 23-15 at the half. In the second half, Loyal was able to get to within six, but then Neillsville used patient ball movement and timely 3 pointers by Jaden Barth to pull away.
Neillsville's Bella Opelt led all scorers with 19. Barth added 12. Remi Geiger led the Greyhounds with 15, Savannah Schley had 12.
Neillsville improves to 11-1 in the ECC and 14-2 overall. Loyal falls to 9-2 in the conference and 13-3 overall.
