Neillsville Girls Down Loyal To Start Season

The Neillsville Warriors girls basketball team downed the Loyal Greyhounds to get their season off to a winning start on Friday night....The Warriors got out to an early lead and never trailed. Loyal was able to get to within 4 points in the first half but Neillsville quickly got it up to 13 and then took a 29-19 lead into halftime. Remi Geiger led all scorers at the half with 12 points. Bella Opelt and Terren Stockheimer each had 9 to lead Neillsville.
In the second half it was all Neillsville as they stepped up their defense and were able to convert on turnovers and increased their lead to make the final 58-39. The Warriors did not shoot well from the free throw line converting on just 9 of 21, including just 8 of 18 in the second half.
Geiger and Opelt shared scoring honors in the game, each with 18. No other Loyal player had double figures while Stockheimer and Emma Moesley each had 10 points for the Warriors.
