The Neillsville Recreation Department has some activities and sign ups coming up......5th & 6th Grade Girls Basketball to Organize
The Neillsville Recreation Department is now taking registration for any girls in 5th or 6th grade who would like to participate in the Fall/Winter girls basketball program. Teams will begin practices (most likely evenings, twice a week) in mid October, with games scheduled to begin in December. All girls are invited to participate, no previous experience is necessary. There is no fee for the program. Kevin & Jen Ditner will lead the 5th grade group and Jamie Kuhn will coach the 6th grade girls. A sign-up form will be available in the middle school office that girls need to register on, so we can develop a team plan, based on interest. The deadline to register is Wednesday, October 9th. More information regarding practice etc. will be disbursed at school at a later date. For more information phone the Neillsville Recreation Department at 743-2400.
Water Exercise Class:
The Neillsville Recreation Department will be offering a "Water Exercise" class on Wednesday evenings, beginning at 6:30 p.m. for the month of October. No pre-registration is necessary, just meet at the NHS pool, using entrance #13. All exercise is done in 3' depth, so you do not need to know how to swim to participate. A Red Cross lifeguard is on duty. Ms. Dianna Walter is the lead instructor. Fee per class is $6, but if you would like to try it out and get the first class free, phone 743-2259 to get pre-authorization.
Afternoon Lap/Exercise/Rehab Swim:
The Neillsville Recreation Department offers, lap/exercise/rehab swim on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 and on Tuesday and Thursday's from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Individuals can swim, walk or exercise at their own pace. The Neillsville pool is handicap accessible and a Red Cross lifeguard is on duty. Fee is $1.50 for adults or $1 for kids. Individuals should use entrance #13 to access the pool. For more information phone 743-2400. (the pool is also open for lap/rehab/exercise swim on Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 6-7 a.m.)
Pickleball to Begin
The Neillsville Recreation Department will be organizing "Pickleball" on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 in the elementary gym. No previous experience is needed and all necessary equipment will be provided. Pickleball is the fastest growing activity for the mature population. No pre-registration is needed as well. Just show up, fee is $2 per individual. Individuals new to the sport will be taught all the needed skills. You don't need to be a great athlete or in perfect physical shape to participate! First night of play will be October 3rd. For more information phone 743-2400.
