Neillsville Rec. Department Youth Baseball And Softball Awards

The Neillsville Recreation Department held their annual "Awards Picnic" for youth summer baseball & softball on Wednesday, July 10th at the Neillsville Middle School gym.

Over 100 boys and girls received certificates for their participation in either Little League Baseball, Junior Slowpitch Softball, or Fastpitch Softball. First place winners in all the leagues also received awards. All coaching staffs also picked a "Most Improved Player" and a "Major Leaguer Award" (based on excellence in attitude and leadership) winner who were presented with specially designed certificates as well.

The Little League honored the Aggies as champions as they earned a sparkling 9-3 record. Members of the Agggies squad who were coached by Jake Ormond, Jason Koepp & Jeff Hart included: Liam King, Nathan Kohl-Gaier, Colton Hannasch, Mikey Harris, Jaxon Hemp, Trevor Hart, Karson Calkins, Bentley Dykeman, Keagan Ormond & Max Koepp. In second place were the Huskers with a record of 4-7-1, their coaches were Larry Hoeser & Tim Walter. Finishing in third place with a 3-6-1 record were the Rams who were led by Josh Lewis, Adam Luchterhand & Matt Roenz.

The Junior Slowpitch Softball League crowned the Fighting Irish as champions with a 9-2-1 record. Members of the hard hitting team included: Shylah & Lalah Walk, Macci Elmhorst, Klarissa Canfield, Emerson Ormond, Kennedy Wanish, Karcyn Schmitz, Mady Davel, Haylee Schultz & Kysha Rakovec. Coaching the champs were Nikki Lawrence & Michelle Schmitz. Placing second were the Jayhawks with a record of 6-6. Regan & Jamie Barth and Kevin & Jen Dittner lead the squad. In third place were the Wildcats who sported a 5-7 record as they were led by Jenna & Bob Pavlac and Corrtney Schmidt. Placing fourth were the Badgers who earned a 3-8-1 record and were coached by the duo of Michelle Subke and Michelle Anding.

The winners of the "Most Improved Player" in the various leagues were: Alissa Kummer, Lalah Walk, Kenadi Urban, Ali Anding, Kyle Langreck, Andrew Volovsek, & Nathan Kohl-Gaier.


Selected as winners of the prestigious “Major Leaguer Award” were Axel Pumper, Landon Rakestraw, Colton Hannasch, Amelia Holcomb, Klarissa Canfield, Rachel Dux & Karli Gross.

The Girls Fastpitch Softball teams were cited for their accomplishments as well. The 10U, 12U, 14U & Varsity groups were all recognized as were their coaches; Kendi Pfeiffer, Missy Stockheimer, Josh Johnson, Nikki Lawrence, Darin Horn, Michelle Schmitz & Devon Opelt. They will compete in the Neillsville Booster Club tournament and participate in tourneys in Eagle River as well as playing league competition in Marshfield and Greenwood and picking up individual games throughout the summer with neighboring communities.


Following the awards ceremony, refreshments were enjoyed by all!
