Champions Crowned At State Golf Championships

Wednesday, June 5th, 2019 -- 6:31 AM

The 94th Annual State Boys Golf Tournament produced team and individual champions in three divisions at University Ridge Golf Course Tuesday.

Morning storms caused the Divisions 2 and 3 tournaments to be reduced to 27 holes.

The Division 1 tournament completed the scheduled 36 holes. Marquette won the Division 1 team championship for the second year in a row and for the third time in the last four seasons. Merrill’s Russell Dettmering sizzled on the second day of competition, going six-under-par to earn the Division 1 individual championship with a -7 score of 137 for 36 holes.

Edgewood captured its third straight Division 2 team title and its fifth overall. Senior Joe Forsting Edgerton won the individual gold medal, shooting a 27-hole score of 108 for even par. Osseo-Fairchild finished 5th.

Roncalli won the Division 3 team title, and its first since winning its only other championship in 2009. Junior Drake Wilcox won the individual championship with a one-over-par 109 for 27 holes.
