Thorp Cardinals Heading Back To State!

The Thorp Cardinal girls softball team beat Clayton/Turtle Lake 4-3 on Thursday in the Shell Lake Sectional Final to advance to State for the second year in row.Thorp got on the board first in the 3rd inning on an RBI single by Kaitlyn Tyznik. Clayton/Turtle Lake would tie it up in the 4th thanks to a couple of Cardinal errors. They would take the lead in the 5th inning on an RBI single by Kiana Fall.
Thorp would take the lead for good with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Brittany Rosemeyer collecting an RBI on a fly out and Kaytlyn Stunkel delivering a 2 run double. Clayton/Turtle Lake would get one more run in the bottom of the 7th before Fall grounded out to first to end the game.
Thorp improves to 19-6 on the season and will now await the seeding of the 4 teams in the Division 4 field to find out when they play in Madison. It will either be Thursday night at 9 pm or Friday morning at 8 am. The other teams at State include Pacelli, Horicon and Mishicot.
