Neillsville Advances to Regional Final

The Neillsville baseball team will play in a Division 3 Regional Final later today after upsetting Fall Creek in the Regional Semi-Final on Tuesday 4-2.Fall Creek scored 2 runs in the first inning on 4 hits off Neillsville starter Braden Trunkel, but that would all the runs the Crickets would get. Trunkel settled down the next 3 innings allowing just 5 baserunners and picking two off at first base.
Neillsville cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the 4th on a throwing error. The Warriors would score two more runs in the 5th inning on two Fall Creek errors to take a 3-2 lead. Neillsville would score one more run in the 6th for the two run lead.
Cole Hediger came on in relief of Trunkel in the 5th inning and struck out the side. He was able to get out of a base loaded jam in the bottom of the 7th with a strike out and a fly ball to end it.
The Warriors had just 5 hits but capitalized on the Fall Creek errors. Neillsville did leave 10 runners on base.
Neillsville will now travel to Osseo for the Regional Final today vs. Osseo-Fairchild. Game time is 5 pm and you can hear it live on 1370 AM WCCN.
