Neillsville Girls Are Regional Champs

The Neillsville girls basketball team won their Regional Championship on Monday night beating Necedah 57-24.The Warriors got out to a 10-0 lead, led by Bella Opelt who scored the first 8 points. Opelt would finish with 10 first half points and Neillsville led 21-12 going into the locker room.
The second half was all Neillsville as they used their defense to force numerous turnovers and it was Samantha Cappadora and Opelt who combined for 21 of the Warriors 36 second half points as they pulled away for a 33 point win. Opelt led Neillsville with 20 points, Cappadora had 13 and Ali Schoengarth added 10 points. Braedynn Jones led the Cardinals with 9 points.
Neillsville, now 21-3 on the season, will face the unbeaten Colby Hornets for a third time this season, this time in a Sectional Semi-Final at D.C. Everest on Thursday night. Game time is 7pm and you can hear it live on 92.7 FM WPKG and streaming live at 1075therock.com.
