Hand Hits Game Winner For Warriors

Thursday, February 14th, 2019 -- 9:08 PM

Hunter Hand laid in the game winner with 3.8 seconds left and Neillsville downed Gale-Ettrick-Trempeleau 62-61 on Thursday night.

The Redhawks got out to as much as a 10 point lead in the first half before the Warriors were able to cut it to a 34-33 G-E-T lead.

G-E-T lead most of the second half by at least 5 points but Neillsville was able to stick around and with the score 60-58 late, Sawyer Schmidt made, what looked like two freethrows to give the Redhawks a 4 point lead, but the official said he stepped over the line on the second attempt and the lead was 61-58. Neillsville's Braden Trunkel then came down and made a lay-up to cut the lead to one. He then stole the inbound pass, setting the stage for Hand's game winning layup.

Alex King led the Warriors with 17 points, Trunkel had 15 and Monte Diestler had 10 ponts including 8 for 8 from the freethrow line.

Neillsville improves to 14-4 and will host Granton on Friday at the Fieldhouse starting at 6 pm.
