Neillsville Takes Over 2nd Place With Win

The Neillsville girls basketball team took over 2nd place in the Eastern Cloverbelt with a 69-46 win over Owen-Withee on Tuesday night.The Warriors were close with the Hawks early, but Neillsville was able to heat up from the outside and took control, leading 33-19 at the half.
Neillsville then started the second half on a 13-0 run to pull away. The Warriors led by as many as 30 points in the second half, outscoring the Hawks 36-27 for the 23 point win.
Jaden Barth led the Warriors with 15 points, Ali Schoengarth had 12 points and Sam Cappadora had 11 points. Jennifer Wendler led all scorers with 18 points, while Hailey Geldernick added 11 for Owen-Withee.
Neillsville improves to 7-2 in the ECC and 11-2 overall while Owen-Withee falls to 6-3 in the conference and 8-4 overall. Neillsville will host Gilman on Friday night.
