Hockey Teams Get Set For Annual “Food Fight”

Saturday, December 1st, the Black River Falls Girls and Boys High School Co-op hockey teams host home games and compete to see who can bring in the most non-perishable food items for area food pantries as part of the 6th annual of the “Food Fight.”

Last year, 5,671 pounds of food distributed with both teams looking to break that record this year.

The girls’ team is made from the school districts of Black River Falls, Melrose-Mindoro, Neillsville, Sparta, Tomah, and Whitehall. Neillsville Sophomore Liz Jorgensen skates for the Lady Tigers. Neillsville Senior Karter Rueth, Juniors Malachi Berry and Jonah Zoschke, Sophomore Cody Kuehl, and Freshman Ian Zoschke, skate for the Tigers. The boys team is made from players in the Alma Center, Black River Falls, Melrose-Mindoro, and Neillsville.

The teams would like to invite everyone to come to cheer on the Tigers this Saturday, at the Milt Lunda Memorial Arena, in Black River Falls. The girls face Medford at 10:30 AM, with the boys facing off against Grantsburg Co-op at 1:00 PM.

Admission is free with a non-perishable food donation. Regular admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students.
