“Panther Pride” Youth Basketball Camp To Be Held

Friday, September 1st, 2017 -- 10:11 AM

The Neillsville Recreation Department in cooperation with the University of Milwaukee Women’s Basketball team will hold a youth basketball camp for boys and girls, in 5th-9th grade on Saturday, September 23rd at the Neillsville Fieldhouse.

Eight members of the University of Milwaukee Women’s basketball team will be the lead instructors. Neillsville alum, Jenny Lindner, now a senior at Milwaukee, along with Stanley Boyd alum Jamie Reit will drill participants on passing, shooting, ball handling & individual defense. They will be assisted by teammates: Sydney Howard, Allysa Fischer, Sydney Staver, Jaye Two Bears, Allysa Moore & Bre Cera.

Also adding his expertise to the camp will be coach John Gaier of the Neillsville Warriors girls program. A leadership/citizenship component will also be part of the camp.

Camp will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with lunch included. Each camper who pre-registers by Sept. 16th will receive a clinic t-shirt. Later registration is welcome, although those registering after that date, will not receive the camp t-shirt. This will be the second year for the Panther Pride camp, last year 103 youngsters participated.

The main goal/focus for Jenny & Jamie is to “give back” to the kids & individuals in our local community who have always been supportive of their basketball careers back in high school and now at UWM. For more information or to receive registration info, phone the Nsv. Rec. Dept. at 743-2400 or email at [email protected].

A special thank you to the following businesses that are helping to sponsor the camp: WCCN Radio, JBC Embroidery & Screen Printing, Russell’s of Neillsville, Custom Heating & Cooling, Strike Time Lanes and Grassland Dairy Products. All proceeds raised will be dedicated to the Neillsville Youth Girls Basketball program.
