Neillsville Pounds Out 16 Hits In Regional Win

The Neillsville baseball team pounded out 16 hits on their way to a 7-2 Regional Semi-Final win over Cochrane-Fountain City on Tuesday.The Warriors (16-5) got out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st led by a 2 RBI single from Luke Erickson. C-F-C would get a run in the second, but could get no closer.
Neillsville collected 3 runs on 6 hits including RBI singles by Cole Hediger and Marshall Opelt. The Warriors added another run in the 7th on an RBI single from Monte Dietsler.
Noah Henchen led Neillsville with 3 hits, Logan Matson, Opelt, David Harder and Dietsler all had 2 hits apiece.
Matson went the distance on the mound allowing 2 runs on 9 hits, striking out 2 and walking none.
The Warriors will be at LaCrosse Aquinas on Wednesday in the Regional Final. Game time is 5 pm and you can hear it live on 1370 AM WCCN.
