Neillsville Girls Are Regional Champs

The Neillsville girls basketball team used a good defensive performance and good outside shooting to down Marathon 51-39 in a Division 4 Regional Final at the Fieldhouse in Neillsville on Monday night.The Warriors had 6 three pointers in the first half on their way to a 23-19 lead going into the locker room.
In the second half, Neillsville's defense forced Marathon into turnovers and Neillsville made 3 more three's to outscore the Red Raiders 28-20 for the twelve point win. Neillsville did struggle from the freethrow line however in the second half, making just 11 of 21.
Mindy Schoengarth and Kayla Lis led the way with 10 points each. Lauren Mesar added 7.
Karley Fischer led Marathon with 14 points.
Neillsville (22-2) will now take on Wittenberg-Birnamwood in the Sectional Semi-Final on Thursday night at Wausau West. Game time is 7 pm and you can hear it live on 92.7 FM WPKG.
